Latest additions
Seville
30th April - 3rd May 2012
A sort of European Marrakech with tapas. Loads to see and, if you eat and drink at the right places, surprisingly cheap (except the hotels, which are extortionate).
Bruges, Ghent & Damme
26th - 28th March 2012
As Ralph Fiennes observed in 'In Bruges', it's like a fairytale and Ghent, if anything, is even better.
Race Retro 2012
25th February 2012
At last, fine weather but, for the stupidly huge admission price, I'd expect tropical paradise.
Goodwood Revival 2011
16th - 17th September 2011
Still the finest old race car event there is.
Kop Hill Climb 2011
24th - 25th September 2011
Third year and still quite unique. Like Goodwood in the early years.
Autorama 2011
11th September 2011
A small but well attended event in Stevenage of all places
Madeira
23rd - 30th August 2011
Fabulous place, perfect temperature and not the last stop before the undertakers that you might expect (on the other hand, Ministry of Sound don't seem to have a presence yet).
NSRA Supernationals
31st July 2011
Great event at a superb venue and sunshine too.
Porsche & Leading Marques Show
26th June 2011
PCGB gathering at Stow Maries 1st World War aerodrome
Le Mans 24 Hours 2011
8th - 13th June 2011
One out of three ain't bad for Audi
Home page of the Marjasons
What
This site is an album of photographs almost entirely taken by me over the last 30 years. Most relate to either cars or travel, sometimes both.
Who
The Marjasons are Reg, the author of these pages, his wife Briony and their daughters Caroline, Emily and Tori.
Where
We live in a village called Walkern, about five miles east of Stevenage in Hertfordshire, England. We've done more than our fair share of travelling. As well as a few excellent holidays we've also lived in Abu Dhabi, Lagos and Athens.
Why
These pages came into being when we were all living in Abu Dhabi. They served the dual purpose of enabling me to learn the rudiments of web-publishing and depressing our friends at home with details of our, temporary, exotic lifestyle. Since then they have grown into a fair sized photo album centred largely on travel and things with wheels or wings.
I am afflicted with a serious automotive fetish which, all treatments having failed, resulted in the building of a Caterham 7 in Spring 2000. A lot of the content here relates to this, especially the build pictures.
How
For those interested in the technical side of things, the site has been developed using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Fireworks CS4 and Adobe Lightroom 3. All the pages (except this one) are generated automatically from Lightroom using a custom template and it's all formatted using CSS except for a tiny bit of Javascript for the rollover in the page header and the Javascript generated by Lightroom.
Most of the early images were taken using a Canon EOS5 film camera, except those in Nigeria where an Olympus Mu was used (less conspicuous), and have been scanned direct from a mixture of negative and reversal film on a Nikon Coolscan IV ED film scanner. More recently I've been using Canon 10D, 30D and 50D digital SLRs with Canon 17-40mm and 35-350mm L series lenses, a Sigma 50mm 1.4 prime and a Canon 10-22mm wide angle zoom.
